Sukkot is a busy time for the three young men who live at Goldberg House. Goldberg House is a group home in Squirrel Hill, operated by Verland and affiliated with Jewish Residential Services.

On Sunday, October 16, 2016, they hosted Janie Yahr and her friends for a lively sukkah decorating event. Janie and her friends have come to Goldberg House every year since its opening to help decorate the sukkah. The decorations are a mixture of Janie’s own decorations which she donated to Goldberg House, newer ones made in honor of each of the young men who live at Goldberg House and homemade decorations made at the event on Sunday.

This year, another tradition was born: on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, Goldberg House hosted an ice cream social in their sukkah for friends and family. Verland supplied kosher ice creams and an array of toppings for a “make your own sundae bar”. Thanks to the lovely fall weather, residents, staff and guests were able to enjoy their sweet treats under the stars in the sukkah.
